
Bellamy Young (born Amy Maria Young born on February 19, 1970)[1] is an American actor, producer, and singer, best known for her role as Melody "Mellie" Grant in the ABC drama series Scandal (2012-2018). She received the 2014 Critics' Choice Television award for best supporting actress in an action series. The actress also appeared in the Fox series Prodigal Son (2019-2021). Young started her career as an actor in theatre. In 1997 Young made her Broadway debut as Mary in the original actors of The Life. Also, she played off Broadway in Stephen Sondheim's music production Merrily we Roll Along (1994), and the musical of Randy Newman Faust (1995-1996). She made her TV debut in the role of The Dr. Courtney Evans in 1995 on the NBC's Another World soap opera. She appeared in Law & Order in 1997 and 1998, in two distinct roles. Her debut film came in 1999 as the role of Black and White's crime drama. Later, she appeared in other independent films. Beginning in 2000, she was spotted in guest-starring in a variety of TV comedies and dramas, like The Drew Carey Show, The X Files, ER, Frasier, The West Wing, NCIS, Medium, Grey's Anatomy, Private Practice, Two and a Half Men, Supernatural, Drop Dead Diva, and Castle. Young featured on over thirty TV programs from 2000 and 2011.
